As some of you might remember, GPS manufacturer Magellan was acquired last year by what's currently one of the biggest names in this field, MiTAC Digital, becoming somewhat of an independent brand (similar to Mio, for example). And now, Magellan's got a new model in its RoadMate series, the 1475T, which is equipped with a traffic - enabled device (VPA) that offers subscription free, real-time traffic alerts, incident and road congestion reports.

The RoadMate 1475T sports a 4.7-inch, WQVGA color, anti-glare touch-screen display in an ultra-thin design, which helps it easily find its way into any user's vehicle. Furthermore, it sports 6 million points of interest (POIs), spoken street name guidance that tells the user the street name and which way to turn before each maneuver, as well as Highway Lane Assist, which points the user in the right direction and ensures the correct lane will be chosen before the next interchange or exit.

It's also very important to mention the fact that the RoadMate 1475T offers the revolutionary OneTouch favorites menu that puts personally selected addresses and searches just one click away. After the user identifies and stores preferred banks, restaurants and other destinations into the OneTouch favorites menu, the user can instantly obtain directions to closest preferred destinations anywhere they travel.

"Magellan is committed to providing navigation solutions that provide the best possible experience to consumers," said Mike Wagner, senior director of product marketing for Magellan. "The new Magellan RoadMate 1475T takes that commitment to the next level by offering users an enhanced ease-of-use and convenience with premium features like the built-in traffic link and the exclusive OneTouch user interface."

The new RoadMate model from Magellan should sell for around $299.00, drivers who opt for MiTAC's PND also getting a windshield mount, a 12-volt vehicle power adapter, an adhesive disk for alternative, on-dash mounting and a quick reference guide included in the package.
