In case you don't know what geocaching is, find out that it is an adventure-type of activity similar to hide-and-seek, but with special “geocaches” that you need to find via special maps. This device launched by Magellan, the xPlorist GC, is a tool for paperless geocaching, right out of the box.

"Magellan, a leader in GPS and navigation for more than 20 years, is pleased to introduce a dedicated GPS device for geocaching that exceeds the expectations of both novice and seasoned geocachers," said Justin Doucette, Director, Outdoor Product Marketing for Magellan. "The Magellan eXplorist GC offers an amazing geocaching experience that includes a full end-to-end solution, from accessing geocaching.com to finding hidden treasures all around you to documenting your adventures and sharing with a growing user community of enthusiasts."

This high-tech version of “treasure hunt” is mostly done via geocaching.com and is designed especially for connecting to it. It is a rugged waterproof GPS system that you can carry with you on our adventures with no worries about ruining it and missing the treasure or getting yourself lost. Also, the dedicated website gives users the possibility to share their experiences and some wisdom about adventuring in unknown areas.

With two AA batteries, you will be using the Magellan xPlorist GC for about 18 hours. Of course, it is equipped with a SiRFstarIII chipset, which will help you find locations of interest within a 3m radius. It comes with a 30-day premium membership on geocaching.com and since it is destined for outdoors use, the xPlorist GC GPS has the type of screen that can be easily read in sunlight and a user-friendly interface.

It also comes with its own USB cable at an MSRP of $199.99.
