Maxell was formed in 1960, by the fusion of the dry battery and magnetic tape divisions of Nitto Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., when a dry cell manufacturing plant was created at the company's registered headquarters in Osaka. It took its name from "maximum capacity dry cell," and, for a while, it was the best at batteries, cassettes and recordable optical discs like CD-R/RW and DVD-R.
Nowadays, the company boasts the Maxell High Performance Storage Media Assortment that just got rounded out with some new
flash media and USB flash drives. Maxell Corporation of America announced yesterday the introduction of a product lineup with a complete flash taste to it. High performing and reliable storage solutions are available in a rich color selection, an array of styles and in capacities between 2GB and 16GB.
The flash media line includes three flash cards, plus the Maxell secure digital Card, the Maxell micro SD Card and, for professionals that demand reliability and high speeds, the Maxell high speed Compact Flash. All of them were made for storing photos, movies and music.
Besides the flash card, Maxell is offering fresh high speed USB flash media in five new impressive styles. First comes the Maxell USB Basic that is available in blue and silver and it's ideal for file sharing and everyday applications. Next would be the Maxell USB Slider that sports a side push design and is a retractable drive. It offers password protection for a maximum security. Available in white or black.
Maxell USB 360 is the stylish black one that features a rotating cover, offering password protection as well. The Maxell USB Style is the one USB flash drive that not only includes the added security of password protection but also encryption technology. Selected files can only be accessed by the originating computer. Another cool feature of the
USB Style is the Easy Sync that recons many file extensions and sorts files into categories such as music, video, picture and data the instant you move them to or from the flash drive. Just like its closest brother, the USB Style comes only in black or white.
Last but not least, the Maxell USB+ brings two devices together joining a USB flash drive with a microSD card reader. You won't need a separate card reader to transfer pictures from you mobile to the stick. Of course, it includes the easy sync software feature. Only one casing available, gray aluminium, that is.
