Traffic police officers reading this should be very glad to learn about Carl Archambeault's design called Scarab. This is an advanced self-driven assistant, which saves police workers from entering high speed chases or put their own lives at risk while following criminals on the highway. The robotic electric vehicle is capable of doing this, hence the extra convenience for traffic cops.

The idea behind this design is to place a Scarab near any police car monitoring the roads. Whenever a car is caught speeding, the police officer tags it with a radar device and once tagged, the Scarab knows that it has to follow and stop it. Though Scarab can be remote controlled, it is originally designed to be self-driven, so after it receives a “tag” signal, it will automatically pursue the respective vehicle.

After the assailant is pulled over, the officer can safely arrive at the crime scene and intervene. This will, of course, put a stop to all those terrible accidents we see during high-speed chases and will also minimize the typical number of casualties in these situations. The Scarab is lightweight and smaller than a police car, thus it will have a minor impact on the environment in case it crashes.

The designer also sees some sort of EMP device being mounted on the Scarab in the future, which will be able to halt the car it chases without any damage whatsoever by jamming it. This implies that the car it chases is electric as well and seems like a solution mores suited for a distant time. Also at the moment, there are no plans for weapon-mounting on the Scarab, but I'm sure that if, one day, it is used, the army will gladly fit a few machine guns on this Dune-like vehicle as well.
