Since there are so many social networking services out there right now, creating some hype around a certain product is a lot easier than before, when companies had to rely mostly on the press and word-of-mouth in order to hint at the release of a future product. And it really looks like
Microsoft's hardware division is well-aware of this situation, since that's exactly what they're doing right now via their
Twitter account, where they've posted a couple of not particularly
revealing photos of their future release.
The photos depict a black device, whose dimensions, however, can't really be properly estimated, especially since only about half of the device in question is featured within the caption. At a glance, we'd be tempted to say that this was a touch-enabled Internet tablet, because that's what the overall design suggests, but, then again, that's not really the area of expertise of Microsoft's hardware division, is it now?
And in order to deepen the mystery, the Microsoft Hardware team also added a rather catchy phrase, namely: "Don't be so touchy...flat is where it's at". Yeah, thanks for nothing guys, this says nothing about the future purpose of this device.
Of course, since this division of the company from Redmond is specialized in computer accessories, it's very likely that this mysterious, touch-enabled device is some sort of input solution, somewhat similar to
Apple's recently-announced Trackpad. But that's only speculation, really.
For the time being, we can't really do nothing more than wait for more updates from Microsoft, in order to figure out what's what, and we'll be sure to keep you posted as things unfold.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
