It really seems that there's not a dull moment as far as Motorola is concerned, since, after announcing the Milestone 2 earlier today, the company also revealed yet another Android smartphone, the DEFY, targeting those people that have a more active lifestyle and thus required a tougher, more rugged handset.
Motorola DEFY is dust proof and water resistant, and also features a large, 3.7-inch WVGA resilient display that has a very good level of protection against scratch damage.
Furthermore, the CrystalTalk PLUS technology will certainly prove its usefulness in noisy environments, featuring two microphones which intelligently filter out background noise and amplify the user's own voice so they don’t have to shout.
Motorola DEFY also features the latest version of Motorola’s unique solution, MOTOBLUR, which makes it even easier to manage all emails, messages and social updates in one easy place with the additions of filtering, resizable widgets, added corporate security and a versatile battery manager.
The device also comes equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with flash, digital zoom and auto focus, while the fact that the DEFY is Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled means that it can easily stream, store and share content with compatible devices around the home like HDTVs, game consoles and PCs.
“DEFY has been designed to handle everything that life throws your way,” said Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, portfolio and device product management, Motorola Mobility.
“With all the features consumers expect in a
smartphone, DEFY packs advanced web browsing, entertainment and messaging capabilities as well as a design that withstands the challenges of everyday life,” Mr. Mutricy added.
While no pricing details have been provided thus far, Motorola does inform us that the DEFY should become official at some point in Q4 2010.
