We're not sure just why Motorola's coming with these crazy designs for its products, but, in some cases, the results of this creative process are rather strange, to say the least. And, as far as we're concerned, that's also pretty much the case with their brand-new FLIPOUT with MOTOBLUR, an Android smartphone equipped with a touch screen that pivots to expose a five-row QWERTY keypad with a separate number row.
The device will be available in several colorful versions and, as expected, will come pre-loaded with Motorola's MOTOBLUR, the service that syncs all your friends, emails, messages, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter feeds and happenings with continuous updates and back-up. In other words, it's a full-fledged social phone, as we like to call it.
Naturally, the device will provide access to the Internet and the full suite of Google services including: Google Search, Google Maps for Mobile and access to thousands of apps on Android Market, Gmail and more. As in the case of previous versions, MOTOBLUR comes fully integrated with GPS tracking and remote data wipe.
If you're getting tired of all the talk and you're looking for some cold, hard figures and tech specs, here's the nitty-gritty. So, what we're talking about here is a smartphone equipped with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen (with support for multi-touch) and a rotating QWERTY keyboard, as well as dual band 3G UMTS, a 3-megapixel fixed-focus camera, GPS and WiFi.
Other important specs worth pointing out include the 512MB of internal storage and a microSD slot with support for up to 32GB cards, as well as a Bluetooth 2.1+EDR module, a digital compass and an FM radio. Despite looking a lot larger at first sight, the FLIPOUT is in fact quite slender, measuring a mere 67 x 67 x 17 mm and weighing around 120g with its 1170mAh battery.
Motorola FLIPOUT with MOTOBLUR will be available in certain regions around the world beginning in Q2 2010, but no specific details (regarding either local markets and pricing) have been provided thus far.
