Android smartphones seem to be
everywhere these days and Froyo seems to make a strong appearance,
Motorola Milestone 2 being the latest device to pack Android 2.2
together with a QWERTY keyboard and a 1GHz processor.
As everybody expected, this is almost a
carbon copy of the
Droid 2, packing the same 3.7-inch 854 x 480
touchscreen, 5-megapixel snapper with dual-LED flashlight and
slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Android 2.2 is the default software
platform, the Milestone 2 packing support for Flash Player 10.1, 3G
tethering (that means you can share your phone 3G Internet
connection with your friends via WiFi) while also adding the Motoblur
UI to the mix.
Hardware wise, we get the already usual
1GHz processor, the OMAP 3600-series in
Motorola's case, 512MB of
RAM, 8GB of integrated storage and a bundled 8GB memory card
alongside DLNA certified 802.11b/g/n wireless and a 3.5mm headphone
jack.
Compared to the original Milestone we
also get 720p HD video capture and playback, so this comes much
better equipped to battle with the Samsung Galaxy S.
“MILESTONE 2 offers more power, more
speed, with an improved keyboard, so users can send, access and share
information even quicker than before to manage their work and
personal life,” said Alain Mutricy, senior vice president,
portfolio and device product management, Motorola Mobility.
The Milestone 2 will be available in
Europe beginning Q4 2010, so for all those of you that are looking for a
Android smartphone here's another option to consider and this
time the QWERTY keyboard is included.
