If there's one company that's been on a roll lately, than that company is definitely NEC. It has launched and announced so many products in recent weeks that it comes as a surprise it still has something up its sleeve. That being said, NEC Display Solutions has launched the NEC Green (make that “Very Green”) 22-inch display. The name of the “culprit” is MultiSync E222W, an otherwise uninteresting monitor, were it not for the extreme “Eco-Friendliness” in its design. Are you ready for what is to follow?
Trust me, nothing can prepare you for this (an exaggeration but I got your attention, haven't I?): a four-way ergonomic design complete with 110 mm height-adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot, an ECO Mode that reduces power consumption and heat generation, as well as an Intelligent Power Management (IPM) that conserves energy and reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by switching to a low-power state or automatically powering down when the monitor is not in use.
If that is not awesome (well, not really awesome but nice if you're close friends with Mother Nature), you should be aware that users can even track their carbon footprint savings with the display’s carbon footprint meter. What does it do? It calculates the reduction of green gas emissions. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, a response time of 5ms and is HDCP and Windows Vista Premium-certified.
Lynn Gu, Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions, was very eager to share a few words with us, “The MultiSync E Series provides an enhanced environment for business users by reducing the amount of hazardous emissions and creating a higher level of productivity. […] The MultiSync E222W is an incredibly eco-friendly and energy-efficient display, as it utilizes 50% less power and contains half the amount of mercury compared to traditional LCD monitors. This display is registered as Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Silver and includes features that enable our customers to extend their displays’ lifecycle and save money in the long run, which is vital given the current economic situation.”
The MultiSync E222W is coming in July 2009, with an estimated price of 269 USD.
