I am sorry I am coming with this product a day later April Fools’, but it is only now that I have come across it. This gadget is built as a prankster from the start, with a special cover that reminds you of those basic phones we used to have a few “centuries” ago. Pull that cover though and you will find out that beneath it hides an iPhone look-alike Chinese phone.
It uses the same principles as when writing the Ugly Betty series. It might have been a good April Fools’ gadget, as the basic-phone facade seems like a good joke for the non-connoisseur. You shouldn't try and prank a well-documented phone passionate though, as the N933 is still a Chinese “Flipper.” This means that the 3.0-inch smartphone with iPhone-like interface and controls still won't make for a good
“impersonation” if compared with the real thing.
Plus, if you look at the yellow-gold frame around its display... let's just say that it is no
Vertu Daigo. You must know that this $126 prank-phone is a touch screen smarty capable of the 320 x 240 resolution, has no internal memory at all, “plus” a VGA camera. Like any true
Chinese product out there, this N933 is, of course, a Dual-SIM handset and also has integrated Bluetooth. Supposedly, you can add some external storage to it via a TransFlash slot (more likely), or even better, via microSD (less likely). Now, you've got yourself a truly odd souvenir that you can use next year to fool your friends into thinking that you are a poor phone modder.
Technabob discovered the phone on Chinagrabber, where it clearly states that only Dual Band GSM networks are supported (900/1800), which means it will not work in Canada or America.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is
