Looking good, huh?

As you have probably noticed, last week, NEC really had a blast, unleashing a lot of new devices. This week, its announcements have somewhat dimmed but it still appears to have some aces up its sleeves. It has recently presented the fresh LCD2490WUXi and LCD2490W2-BK-SV, outfitted with NEC's SpectraView Color Calibration technology.

These displays are meant to be used by graphic artists, for desktop publishing, photography, medical imaging and other professional uses (though playing a game or watching a good movie is always a viable option). These monitors have an aspect ration of 16:10 and measure 24 inches.

As for specs, 1900 x 1200 native resolution, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, 320 cd/m2 brightness, a color gamut that makes the monitors ideal for sRGB applications, as well as auto luminance control and technology that compensates for variations in luminance and color uniformity. In order to adjust for any lighting conditions, there is an ambient light sensor that makes corresponding adjustments whenever needed. They feature a 4-way ergonomic stand with 150mm 150mm height-adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot and have an estimated price of 1,099 USD and 1,299 USD respectively.

Let's see what Stan Swiderski, Product Manager for NEC Display Solutions, had to say about the feat, “The MultiSync LCD2490WUXi² and LCD2490W2-BK-SV displays enable NEC to continue its long-standing tradition of providing high-end users with highly powerful and ultra-capable displays. […] These new widescreen displays increase our customers’ productivity levels by presenting them with features created to ease their workload and improve their color performance, which makes their job less time-consuming and provides a more enjoyable experience.”

The displays look pretty good, have great options especially in the “compensating for conditions” department and only the pretty high (for the common user) estimated price makes them a bit unwanted by all but professionals who need high quality LCD displays.
