NEC Corporation of America today introduced the UNIVERGE UM8700, which is a scalable unified messaging solution,
capable of delivering advanced speech and mobility features developed to meet the needs of mid-to-large enterprises. Sporting such a flexible architecture, the UM8700 enables a completely smooth integration with the customer's current communication technology or email system.
“The new features included in the UM8700 can enhance user mobility and productivity in a variety of roles,” said Jay Krauser, general manager and senior technology strategist, NEC.
“In one common example, the
voice user interface can be accessed by a receptionist in a mid- to large-sized healthcare company with multiple clinics to make appointments easier and faster, thereby reducing patient hand-off across offices, increasing patient satisfaction and allowing the receptionist to address more patient calls. The receptionist can also navigate through large directories of doctors, nurses and administrators with a simple voice command, making it
simpler to locate people and stay on task.”
The UM8700 was built around Applied Voice and Speech Technologies' CallXpress platform, and embeds advanced call processing voicemail, unified messaging, personal assistant, fax, speech and even notification tools which ensure it's easier to both access and manage messages. Further, the UM8700 provides a continuous protection of mission-critical communication services,
sporting a distributed design that can predict and correct problems even before they occur.
