Although we are more inclined to think about consumer products when it comes to NEC, the company also has a strong foothold in the digital signage industry, their latest indoor and outdoor LED modules promising to deliver an impressive brightness and image quality in video wall setups.
Dubbed the LED-06AF1 and LED-15BF1, these two new offerings operate under the “true pixel” principle, as NEC like to call it, meaning every single pixel is comprised of a red, green and blue light-emitting diode, allowing for better color depth and more accurate images.
Adding to that, a special video processor is also included in order to deliver adaptive de-interlacing, frame rate conversion and low latency processing.
Although very similar in regards to the technology being used, these two panels have different usage scenarios, the LED-06AF1 being built for indoor use while its outdoor sibling, the LED-15BF1 is designed for
sports arenas, airports and advertising billboards.
Because of this we get a much higher brightness and contrast ratio on the LED-15BF1 (7500 NIT and 4500:1 contrast compared to 2000-NITs and 3500:1 contrast ration in the LED-06AF1), although they both offer DVI-D DualLink interfaces as well as improved LED life thanks to the Nichia lamps used.
“Delving deeper into the digital signage industry allows NEC to offer a product for virtually every application imaginable, and most importantly, a single point of contact for all types of display needs,” said Keith Yanke, Director of Product Marketing at NEC Display Solutions.
“The
LED modules will be most useful to customers with large capacities and elevated audience quantities, such as transportation hubs, concert venues, sports facilities and shopping malls.
Whether a permanent or mobile application, the indoor and outdoor LED modules from
NEC can deliver the utmost in brightness, image quality and ease in video wall setup.”
Both of these panels are available right now although you have to wait 120-days in order to get one since they are built-to-order.
