NEC Display Solutions had us worried for the past couple of weeks, since it kind of put a stop to its seemingly never-ending list of announcements related to PC monitors. However, it seems that it was only a short break, since the company's now back with a couple of energy-efficient solutions, which include two widescreen displays and one standard-aspect display, all three targeting small-to-medium-sized businesses and being a part of NEC's AccuSync series.
The new PC monitors introduced by
NEC are the 19-inch AS191, 19-inch widescreen AS191WM and 22-inch widescreen AS221WM. All three models offer an EPEAT Silver rating, and ENERGY STAR 5.0 and TCO 5.0 compliance, thus proving the fact that they're capable of maintaining power consumption at a very low level.
Other features the three LCD
PC monitors deliver are VGA and DVI connectivity, as well as up to 1000:1 contrast ratio and a pretty average response time, of around 5ms. They support tilt adjust ability, and the AS191WM and AS221WM models are also touch integratable and come equipped with space-saving, down-firing multimedia speakers with headphone jack, thus enhancing their level of versatility and, to some extent, actually cutting down costs (after all, SMB users don't require hi-fi equipment attached to their computers, do they, now?).
“NEC’s AccuSync Series has continually provided business users with the features they need to accomplish day-to-day work and the components that keep them up-to-date with the latest display technology,” said Lynn Gu, Product Manager for
NEC Display Solutions. “These three new models carry on that long-standing tradition of dependable, high-quality and environmentally-responsible desktop monitors without the large price tag.”
The NEC AS221WM will begin shipping in October 2009 with an estimated street price of $249, while both the AS191 and the AS191WM are slated to arrive in stores November 2009 with an estimated street price of $199 and $189, respectively.
