Like I said before, some of the gadgets that I am most fond of are those that help the educational system and those that are made for medical use. Speaking of devices meant to make classes a bit sweeter and perhaps help students actually learn a thing or two, NEC has recently decided to improve its NP Short Throw series of projectors with a lot of new features mainly concerning the way they spend their energy.

The wide-format NP510WS and the NP610S (standard aspect ratio) use a number of Eco-friendly features in order to save money and increase their lifespan. One of those features is the ECO Mode, a technology that extends lamp life to as much as 5,000 hours. The ECO Mode therefore allows for lower power consumption and a noise level of 29dB. This means it is as quite as a mouse so you won't have to apologize about deafening your students.

“The next-generation NP Short Throw Series was purposely designed for ease-of-use in areas with small throw distances, such as classrooms, conference rooms and training rooms, where a bright image is needed,” said Rich McPherson, Product Manager at NEC Display Solutions. “The NP510WS and NP610S are cost-effective products that include a multitude of technologies to help presenters give efficient and successful presentations.”

With Virtual Remote, the user will be able to control the projectors via a computer, while closed captioning allows for the projector to display text information for the hearing impaired. It has Automatic Vertical Keystone Correction, meaning it can be tilted up or down and still be able to produce a square image without any adjustments. The two projectors are available for 949 USD and 999 USD, respectively.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
