MP3 players have become our constant technological life partner. They don't need many advanced features to make us happy, which is alright with us and our budgets. The NU Dolphin Touch doesn't push the bar tech-wise; instead, its creators chose to improve its portability.
Nobody stares anymore at people jogging with earbuds jammed in their ears. Not even very old people. But they will surely start staring at people listening to MP3 players in the pool or swimming at the beach. Not long ago, we told you about waterproof cases for the iPod. Well, this time, we're not talking about waterproof accessories, but a whole device. According to
Fareastgizmos, the NU Dolphin Touch is “Guaranteed Waterproof” and has a certificate to prove it (“International certified IPX7”).
As MP3 players go, this one does its job pretty well. You can load plenty of tunes on it thanks to the 4GB Nand Flash Memory. With gadgets, it's always nice to look back at the way things were several years before and see the way they evolved, sometimes amazingly fast, sometimes sluggishly – depending on the whims of the great divinity known as the Consumer. So, try this now and compare a waterproof 4GB MP3 player (capable of hosting about 960 songs) with the first devices of this kind.
The size of the NU Dolphin Touch (66.4x21x21 mm) goes with the compact standards that have always been implicit for DAPs. It gets its power from an 80mAh/3.7V battery of the rechargeable variety. The earphones are waterproof, of course. Also, the package includes the usual MP3 player trivia: USB cable, fastening bands (quite important considering the watery places where this little fellow will accompany you), armband, clip, cleaning cloth (also important, because you're probably not planning to bathe in a tub full of distilled water). Too bad there's no info on pricing available.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed.
