Earlier this year, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, NVIDIA launched and demonstrated its new 3D Vision product, meant to provide home consumers with a new way to enjoy photos, videos and gaming applications. The product itself has been designed to work with the company’s latest GeForce graphics processing unit and requires a 120Hz LC or DLP HDTVs. According to NVIDIA, the 3D experience delivered by its 3D Vision product will provide computer users with a completely new visual experience, allowing them to take full advantage of the graphics qualities of the latest GeForce GPUs.
The launch of 3D Vision couldn’t come at a better time, especially if you take a look at today’s computer gaming market. Current gaming applications can only deliver so much, with each new title introducing a different, enhanced visual experience or a better AI. However, as far as computer games are concerned, you are pretty much stuck to the same devices that have been available for a while now, which allow you to interact with your favorite gaming application. Fortunately, NVIDIA has decided that “The way it’s meant to be played” deserves a change, a much anticipated change.

3D Vision enables the end-user to experience computer games, videos and even photos in a new way, all in the comfort of their own home. Using one performance GeForce graphics card, a 120Hz monitor and NVIDIA’s 3D glasses could make many of those that have given up on computer gaming rediscover the experience they used to enjoy. In addition, they will also take pleasure in viewing movies on their PC, granted the movie is shot in 3D.
NVIDIA has been showcasing its 3D Vision product at almost all the computer events since the beginning of the year, including CeBIT 2009, held in Hanover, Germany, March 3-8. At the computer show, we had a chance to test NVIDIA's 3D Vision glasses, which were presented at the company's booth, and that of its partners. Unsurprisingly, this was one of the main attractions at CeBIT, a fact that was easily demonstrated by the impressive crowd gathered around for a chance to get a depth on NVIDIA's 3D solution.
Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to fully cover the features and functionalities of NDIVIA's 3D Vision during the CeBIT show. Nevertheless, we were promised a chance to review the product and play with the solution for ourselves. This happened earlier this month and we can now provide you with some perspective as to what to expect from this product.
