Remember that article published yesterday regarding the
forthcoming GTX 400 series of GPUs from NVIDIA? Well, it seems that, as the official launch date draws ever nearer, more and more leaked pieces of info are starting to hit the web, including detailed specs, pricing info and some better quality shots.
Anyway, as
TCMagazine informs us, it seems that the guys over at
Expreview have managed to get their hands on more info, as well as a couple of better quality shots of not only the GTX 480 GPU we mentioned yesterday, but also of one of its siblings, the GTX 470. And, boy, are we in for a treat.
So, the GeForce GTX 480 will apparently pack no less than 480 Cores, a 384-bit interface, 1536MB of VRAM and GPU/shader/memory of 700/1041/1848 (3696) MHz. TDP will be set at around 295W. The GTX 470, on the other hand, will sport “only” 448 CUDA Cores, 607 MHz GPU, 1215 MHz shader frequency, and 1280MB of GDDR5 memory @ 1674 MHz (3348 MHz DDR), while the overall TDP will be clearly lower, at 225W.
Additionally, the two new dual-slot GPUs from
NVIDIA will deliver three-way SLI support, two (six-pin and eight-pin) PCIe power connectors, as well as dual-DVI and HDMI outputs. Other features will include CUDA, PhysX and 3D Vision Surround support.
Last, but certainly not least, the pricing details. So, the GeForce GTX 480 will have an estimate retail price of 499 US dollars, while the 470 will be available at a much more affordable $349.
Now, the leaked pieces of info (accompanied by the photos) do paint a pretty interesting picture of the future GPUs from NVIDIA. However, it remains to be
seen whether these graphics powerhouses will really manage to rise to the levels of performance promised by the manufacturer, so we're eagerly waiting for March 26 in order to see what's what. Hopefully, we'll be able to get our hands on a test sample by then, and let you know exactly just what the new GPU from NVIDIA can do.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
