Not that much time ago we reported about Roku's new media streaming units, the Roku XD coming in as a particularly interesting option since it featured a low price tag along with 1080p video playback capabilities and a bunch of other interesting features, Netgear certainly thinking the same way since it decided to sell this under their own brand as the Netgear Roku XD Player.
What this actually means is that Netgear's unit will basically feature the same specs list as the Roku XD, this
media streaming device coming with support for Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand as well as 802.11 b/g/n wireless and Ethernet connectivity.
Pandora, MLB.TV, MP3tunes, MOG, and RadioTimewhile have also made it among the list of media services available on Neatger's Roku XD, the device also coming with a HDMI output in order to be connected to your HDTV as well as a composite output if you are still stuck in the dark ages on analog TV.
There is a catch however, when it comes down to Netgear's Roku units, since these are priced at $89.99, $10 more then the regular Roku XD, although
Netgear won't provide you with any extra functionality, a HDMI cable also missing from the retail box.
End of it all, things are actually pretty simple.
If you don't have any problems with ordering online, then go for the Roku XD since this will save you some money, but if you want to pick this up from the local Best Buy, Radio Shack or Fry's then you have no other option than to pay $10 more and get a Netgear branded unit.
