The advent of digital photography has managed to pretty much push classical photos completely out of the picture, with PC monitors and digital frames taking the place once proudly occupied by photo frames. However, it seems that there's still a market for paper photos after all, since the Amex company has just launched a special type of digital frame, the SP-7 model, which can actually print out the photos you're admiring at any given moment.

Hence, by using this device, people will not only be able to watch their favorite photos, but they'll also be able to literally “share” them with friends by printing a copy in a matter of seconds.

From the point of view of a digital photo frame, the Amex SP-7 is not exactly what one might call fantastic, and that's because the device only sports a 7-inch, 16:9 TFT color LCD display, with a maximum resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and adjustable brightness. It also has a couple of stereo speakers, plus a remote control, which controls both the Slide Show feature and the playback options.

As most other similar devices available on the market, the SP-7 sports a multi-memory card reader, compatible with MS/MMC/SD/XD/CF memory cards. Additionally, it incorporates a USB 2.0 interface, used either for connecting a USB flash drive to the device or for connecting the digital frame to a host computer.

Unfortunately, Amex doesn't provide absolutely any kind of technical information regarding the printing module built within the SP-7 digital frame, mentioning just the fact that we're dealing with a “high quality photo printer.” Given the fact that the whole frame sells for under 200 US dollars ($199, to be precise), I'm pretty much willing to bet that the quality of the photos is not that impressive. Then again, who knows, I might be wrong.
