Goblin Motors, self-entitled specialists in composite technologies for human power transportation, announced the launch of their GoblinAero vehicle for this February. A bit far-fetched to call it a car, the GolbinAero is in fact a velomobile, a bicycle car enclosed for aerodynamic advantage and protection from weather and collisions. They are derived from recumbent bicycles and tricycles, with the addition of a full fairing (aerodynamic shell).

The GoblinAero is designed to get you to work in-town or to the grocery store down the street. Getting approximately 150 mpg, the GoblinAero high-mpg vehicle can be registered as a moped or ridden without registration as a motorized bicycle in many states and it is also available as human powered only.

 

The GoblinAero is based upon a heavy duty, fully suspended frame with three wheels. This means that you will drive in comfort and will be able to stop more quickly with over-sized 8” dual disk brakes. Due to the highly stable three-wheeled design, you won't have to put your feet down at stop lights. The seating position is like that of your most comfortable recliner at home... with your feet in front. The upholstered seat has an adjustable seat back and can be adjusted forward or backward for almost any sized passenger. The GoblinAero is designed to comfortably seat riders up to 300 pounds.

 

The GoblinAero is highly visible in traffic and is about the same height as an ordinary compact car. Its safety features include headlight, brake light, turn signals, mirrors, horn, and seat belt. This velomobile can be pre-ordered from the company's website at the moment and it will be available for the population at the end of this month, according to Goblin Motors, for prices ranging between 5,000 and 6,500 US dollars, in conformity with the options added. The company will also launch the GoblinRampage and the GoblinCricket velomobiles later this year.
