This product right here is targeted at the security markets and comes with some improvements that make it superior compared to other tracking solutions. Although it would be kind of fun to be able to play with this technology that allows for advanced tracking with high resolution detailed maps, a regular individual would not have any other reasons for using such tech.

This new portable tracking solution from EMS Global Tracking, a division of EMS Technologies, comes with the advantage of remotely controlled messages which, like the tracking itself, can be done in a two-way mode.

“EMS is extending our industry-leading asset and vehicle tracking capabilities to individuals, offering the most cost-effective solution for worldwide tracking, two-way messaging and alerting,” says Dino Koutrouki, EMS Global Tracking general manager. “This solution represents a new market segment for both EMS and our partners, where we are leveraging the pedigree of Inmarsat’s global satellite network and our significant tracking and Search and Rescue (SAR) expertise.”

The whole system announced by EMS is web-based and contains the new Osprey Personal Tracker, the hardware component, and ViewPoint. The two-way messaging system allows for up to 450 messages to be configured remotely from the web-based application.

Because kidnapping corporate employees has become a new trend in regions like Latin America, West Africa and the Middle East, there is now a large number of companies that have their own kidnapping insurances. This number represents three quarters of Fortune 500 companies in the United States only.

“Security concerns continue to mount for personnel deployed in dangerous environments. We believe our solution will be in strong demand by companies as they look to protect their staff in these locations,” adds Koutrouki.
