There are a lot of people out there who opt for some more advanced camcorder models, simply because they want to be able to control more of the video recording settings. However, there are also quite a lot of users (especially young ones) who only want to shoot videos in order to upload them to their favorite video-sharing service (be it YouTube or another one), and especially for them, Korean company Samsung has just released onto the market the ultra-compact HMX-U10
Pocket Camcorder, designed to combine ease of operation with some fairly satisfactory results for the aforementioned category of consumers.
According to Samsung, the HMX-U10 is an ultra compact camcorder that records in
full-HD and also allows users to take 10-megapixel still photos. A one-touch “upload” button provides a direct connection to YouTube for fast and easy video sharing.
The HMX-U10 comes equipped with a 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor, as well as a two-inch LCD screen for reviewing photos and videos. At 56mm x 103mm x 15.5mm, and weighing just 95g including the battery, the HMX-U10 is ultra-compact, with an ergonomic design that breaks free of the traditional look and feel of pocket-sized camcorders.
Furthermore, its sleek frame is accentuated by a wave-design that angles the body of the camcorder at seven degrees, allowing users to grip the camcorder more comfortably, reducing any related stress on the wrist or arm.
The HMX-U10 also features Samsung’s play-edit-sharing program called intelli-studio, so users can edit or share their video without access to a PC. When they
connect, however, the camcorder’s built-in intelli-studio program allows them to turn any computer into a mobile studio.
“The addition of the HMX-U10 adds strength to an already impressive line-up of Samsung camcorders and offers a digital video recording solution for everyone” said Steve Mitchell, General Manager Marketing, Samsung Digital Imaging Division.
The new camcorder from Samsung should arrive in stores at some point in September 2009, selling for somewhere in the vicinity of 200 US dollars.
