While there's definitely a lot less fuss about pico projectors nowadays, that doesn't mean that this sub-species of projection solutions has gone extinct. No, in fact, there are quite a few important consumer electronics manufacturers still pushing such products onto the market, and one of them is Korean company Samsung, which has just rolled out an interesting new model, the SP-P410M.
According to the guys over at
Akihabara News, the fresh SP-P410M pocket projector from
Samsung should make an appearance on the Korean and, surprisingly, the German market, at some point in the near future. Moreover, it would seem that this pico projector really deserves its name, since it measures just around 147.5 x 66.3 x 145.5mm. No idea about the weight, though.
As far as its projection capabilities are concerned, the SP-P410M is pretty good (as far as
pico projectors go), given the fact that it supports resolutions up to SXGA (1280x1024 pixels), despite being able to output just 800x600 pixels videos. Furthermore, the device features a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, while its LED lighting system is able to attain a 170 ANSI Lumen brightness.
The new Samsung projector also sports a USB port, which means that users can easily connect to it various USB devices. This is actually pretty important, given the fact that the SP-P410M supports a relatively wide range of formats, including MP3, WMA, PCM, ADPCM, OGG, AAC-LC, AMR-WB, WAV, JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, HDP as well as the following extensions *.mpg, *.dat, *.vob, *.avi (XviD, DivX 3.11, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, *.mp4), *.mov.
For the time being, no definite pricing information has been provided regarding either of these countries, but given the current trend in the field of
pico projectors, it's very likely that their pricing will be somewhere around 500 or 600 US dollars, at least in theory. Of course, in today's crisis-plagued world, theory and reality might differ quite a lot, but that's a whole different story.
