The popularity of digital photo frames has virtually skyrocketed over the recent couple of years, with pretty much every major name on the consumer electronics market (plus a huge array of lesser-known manufacturers) coming out with such products. That's also the case with Toshiba, which will be outing in the near future on the European market its new JournE Air digital photo frames capable of providing a host of advanced features, including here tuning to Internet radio stations.

Hence, as our colleagues from PocketLint inform us, the new family of digital photo frames from Toshiba comprises, for the time being, just two models, the JournE Air 1000 (the larger version) and the smaller JournE Air 801. Despite the fact that both frames provide Wi-Fi functionality, just the larger one is capable of tuning to Internet radio stations (with up to 50 pre-set channels), while being accompanied by a remote control for easier operation.

The larger model sports a 10-inch, 16:9 backlit LCD screen, with 1GB of internal memory and a memory card slot for expansion. Moreover, it has a pair of 0.5W speakers and offers such extra features as audio playback, calendar, clock and alarm.

Now, for the smaller sibling. Hence, the JournE Air 801 will feature an 8.4-inch, 4:3 screen and 128MB of internal storage space, as well as a memory card slot. It also delivers alarm clock and calendar functions, but, unlike the larger one, offers full touch controls and Sub-View and 3D Album functions, which allow users to employ it as a secondary LCD display for their desktop computer (obviously, via USB).

For the time being, availability information is rather sketchy (apparently, we're talking about the 1st quarter for the EMEA region), but it seems that their price points will not be too exaggerated, since the JournE Air 1000 will be priced somewhere near $238, while the 801 should be a little less expensive, just 196 US dollars.
