You know, when I wrote the first piece regarding
HP's latest releases, I had the feeling something was definitely missing. And thank you HP for confirming that I was right. It seems that Hewlett-Packard has also released a Business TouchSmart PC and a fully interactive, 42-inch HD digital signage display as well. And since I'm in a good mood, why don't we take a look at what they have to offer?
The HP TouchSmart 9100 Business PC comes with a 23-inch full HD widescreen
display, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 8 GB of maximum memory, a choice between a 500GB HDD or a 64GB SSD, as well as NVIDIA GeForce G200 integrated graphics or the GeForce GT230 discrete graphics that uses the Mobile Express Module graphics slot. There is an optional Blu-ray combo optical disk drive as well. Other connectivity options besides FireWire have not been mentioned at this time.
“Since the launch of the first TouchSmart PC nearly three years ago, we’ve worked closely with a growing number of software companies and independent vendors to develop built-for-touch applications that give consumers and businesses rich interactive multimedia experiences,” said James Mouton, senior vice president and general manager, Desktop Global Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP. “These collaborations have helped to make HP touch computing the most advanced touch experience in the market today.”
As for the 42-inch HD digital signage display (called HP LD4200tm), it features 1080p resolution, an ultra wide 178 x 178 degree viewing angle and is made especially to be used in what HP calls “trendy” indoor environments such as kiosks, point of sale, shopping malls and so on.
As far as pricing goes, the 9100 starts at 1,299 USD and will be made available in December, when you will also be able to purchase the HP LD4200tm for a starting price of 2,799 USD.
