Yesterday, we were talking about an HDMI hub provided by JVC and about the fact that more and more electronic products (especially digital cameras, camcorders and set-top players) come packed with this particular connectivity option. However, what you're about to see as follows is even more impressive, since the new HDMI hub from Japanese company Lancerlink provides pretty much the same level of versatility as far as the connectivity options are concerned, with a very important difference: no wires are involved.
Hence, the
HD-Wireless RD&TD system (as this product is dubbed) is a device that offers users an enhanced degree of versatility as far as the installation options are concerned, since it will allow them to broadcast videos over nothing but thin air. Of course, there's also a catch, namely the fact that we're talking about two units here, the transmitter and the receiver.
As you can see from the photos, the transmitter unit features three HDMI interfaces, plus several indicators that point out the signal strength, as well as which HDMI connector is active at any given moment. The receiver, on the other hand, features just one HDMI connector, which is hooked up to a TV, plus a power indicator.
Although this wireless HDMI hub system doesn't look like much at first sight, the company claims that it's actually able to deliver videos at 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions and 30/24 FPS frame rates, similar to any HDMI interface. Moreover, the broadcasting range is also extremely impressive, since we're talking about up to 20 meters and even through walls, something very few other competitors are offering.
Of course, given the fact that we're dealing with a highly innovative technology, it's no wonder that the device from Lancerlink comes at a pretty hefty price point, namely around 148,000 Yen (or roughly 1,650 US dollars), which makes it way too expensive for the large majority of customers.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
