In recent years a lot of things have become rugged and although I have to admit that I never thought that a workstation or a server can go this route NextComputing certainly managed to amaze me with this Vigor Evo Plus rugged mobile computer, designed to support high-end software applications in deployed environments.
Built for customers in the defense sector, the Vigor Evo Plus can be configured with up to two Intel Xeon processors and 16GB or ECC RAM, NextComputing improving the storage capacity of the Evo Plus, compared to the older generation model, as this thing can pack up to 11TB worth of hard drives.
However, things don't end here since the Vigor Evo Plus can be equipped with up to three 17” inch monitors, for “panoramic viewing,” a screen-less version being also available if you ever find yourself in need of a vehicle mounted server.
"Our Vigor series rugged portable
workstations and servers have been known in the industry for their top-end performance and flexible, modular design approach which allows the systems to be extremely versatile, while remaining small, lightweight, and efficient," says Bob Labadini, President & CTO of
NextComputing.
Although, NextComputing says the Vigor Evo Plus is half the size and weight of an equivalent performance rackmount or tower system, I wouldn't call this 35 pound (almost 16 kilos) behemoth light or small by any means.
NextComputing has not provided us with any infos regarding the price of this thing, but I suspect that you can pretty much buy a new car for what the Vigor Evo Plus will sett you back.
