This might not come as big news for those who know about Nokia's previous deals with China Mobile, regarding their Mobile Market-Ovi Store. Now with the introduction of these two handsets in the country, optimized for working over TD-SCDMA networks, the Finnish
mobile phone manufacturer is carving new paths for its handsets and services, on the aforementioned market. Speaking of Chinese, they will be able to see the X5 and
C5 mobile phones at the World Expo Shanghai 2010.
"Nokia is boosting its leadership in the TD-SCDMA market by strengthening its TD-SCDMA portfolio with products that appeal to a wide range of customers at a range of price points. After the milestone collaboration with China Mobile on the Mobile Market-Ovi Store, we also continue to offer new and stylish devices to satisfy our consumers," said Chris Leong, Senior Vice President, Greater China, Korea & Japan.
Besides the Mobile Market-Ovi Store, these phones pack some more heat regarding the applications that their future Chinese users will be able to try out over the 3G TD-SCDMA networks there. Out of these web-based apps present on the Nokia X5 and C5 Chinese versions, we have to mention the Fetion IM, CMCC Music and Mobile Video. All of these come preloaded with the two terminals.
"We are also very excited to become a board member of TD Forum after being involved in the forum's activities for years. We have a long-term commitment to TD-SCDMA and we take our leadership role very seriously. We will continue to drive for TD-SCDMA technology and market development as well as evolution towards TD-LTE. And thus will contribute to the prosperity of TD-SCDMA in China, with both high quality TD-SCDMA devices and rich applications and services." Leong added.
Fortunately for future users, the
more appealing X5 Nokia handset will also come with a red coloring option and will be available starting with Q2 of this year. The C5 model will follow in Q3.
