Nokia might be scrambling to take at least a bit of the spotlight Apple's enjoying right now (especially since the launch of their Internet tablet, now more or less almost official, is scheduled for later on today), but, to tell you the truth, they haven't really managed to do much damage. Sure, that announcement about making
navigation free on all smartphones supporting Nokia maps was a pretty big thing, but it doesn't come close to what Apple actually has in store.
Anyway, the reason why we've started talking about the Finnish company is that they've just announced a new version of their X6 “
Comes with Music” phone, providing less memory (16GB, as compared to the 32GB capacity of the previously announced mode), but still featuring a plethora of interesting and quite attractive functions.
Besides shaving off 16GB from the amount of available storage space, the new 16GB X6 model doesn’t “Come with Music” anymore. However, it still sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, and is available in four new finishes: all black, all white, white with pink highlights and white with yellow highlights.
Additionally, Nokia's phone runs the latest version of the Symbian OS, and offers a very good battery time, namely 18 days of standby time, 11.5 hours of talk time (GSM), 4.5 hours of video playback and 35 hours of music playback. The device also incorporates a 5-megapixel camera sporting Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash.
Naturally, the 16GB Nokia X6 supports the navigation-related features we've mentioned before, and even comes with a couple of pre-loaded games, such as Spore by EA, Asphalt4 and DJ Mix Tour by Gameloft.
Sadly,
Nokia has nothing to comment on the pricing of the 16GB version of the X6, nor are they particularly accurate as far as the availability date is concerned, claiming only that the handset is scheduled to arrive in stores at some point during this quarter.
