You know when you can tell that a company is not extremely interested in marketing its products in a certain place? When it offers cool deals and super cool devices to one or more markets and phones and the Nokia Mako slash Surge for another one. Not that the new Nokia Surge is ugly or something but compared to other devices that I've seen from Nokia... well, I feel glad I am European.

"Launching at $79.99 with a complete email solution, downloadable applications and full HTML browser with Flash support, Nokia Surge hits the sweet spot between a quick messaging phone and a smartphone because of its low-price and strong feature set," said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

Anyway, coming from AT&T, the new Nokia Surge is meant for those persons that have social networking in their blood and tweeter their friends every time they make a step forward. It packs a Flash Lite browser and the wonderful Symbian S60 operating system. This will definitely make it a modding heaven, especially since there are so many applications meant for social networking on the S60 OS.

"Designed in the U.S., this socially charged smartphone comes in a sleek slide form factor that supports social networking and messaging - and all on an open platform," said David Petts, vice president and general manager, AT&T Account, Nokia. "Together with AT&T, we're excited to address the increasing demand for smartphones with a device that's as attractive to the customer as it is to his or her wallet."

As for the design, I can say this phone is nothing like others that I have seen from Nokia. Probably because I knew it as Mako, it reminds me of Deus Ex 2, the game!
