Given the current state of the economy, which is also adversely affecting the medical system, the popularity of patient self-monitoring devices has skyrocketed, people preferring to monitor some of their most important body indexes and transmit the figures to doctors over the phone or the Internet rather then actually go there. And one of the latest products of this type to arrive onto the market is the GO2 from Nonin Medical, a fingertip pulse oximeter that provides patients with a proven method to safely monitor their oxygen saturation.

According to the manufacturer's statement, the GO2 fingertip pulse oximeter incorporates Nonin Medical's clinically proven PureSAT pulse oximetry technology. Given the fact that PureSAT has proved its advantages time and time again, patients can feel confident that the readings they take at home are the same as they would be if taken at their clinician's.

The GO2 personal fingertip pulse oximeter enables oxygen users to adjust their oxygen to meet their varying daily activity levels, get instant feedback on the effectiveness of their breathing techniques, and improve communication with their clinician. Moreover, the GO2 will benefit clinicians as well, by enabling them to partner with their patients and trust that the patient-reported oxygen and pulse rate readings are reliable on each occasion.

However, not only patients with some severe medical condition can go for the GO2. No, in fact, this could prove to be extremely useful for other purposes as well, such as monitoring one's exercise routine, for example. This becomes even more important in the case of a clinician-advised exercise program, by promoting compliance through simple operation and instant, precise feedback.

Unfortunately, at least for the time being, no significant pricing and availability information regarding the new GO2 Personal Patient Monitoring Device has been provided, but we're likely to obtain more details on this issue in the months to come.
