Novatel Wireless Incorporated, a company that provides wireless broadband solutions, just announced its latest HSPA+ product, namely the Ovation MC998D. It supports the 850, 1900 and 2100 MHz frequency bands and was developed to
deliver connectivity virtually anywhere to allow users to check their email, download full multimedia content and just stay connected to family, friends and co-workers.
The Ovation MC998D gives users unprecedented speed in Novatel Wireless' compact form factor design and packs "multiple input multiple output" (MIMO), as well as diversity antenna technologies to take data throughput and operating range to its maximum level. Sporting Novatel Wireless' MobiLink 3 auto install connection manager, storage capacity of up to 16GB over MicroSDHC slot and backward compatibility with HSPA products, the Ovation MC998D offers a complete solution for mobile broadband connectivity.
"The addition of the Ovation MC998D to our previously announced family of HSPA+ products underscores our commitment to ensuring our customers’ needs are met on schedule as they upgrade to the latest technologies available,” said Rob Hadley, CMO of Novatel Wireless. “Our complete HSPA+ product line represents our efforts to continuously innovate to provide the fastest and most reliable wireless data devices for our customers and their customers."
HSPA+ is the next level that
high-speed packet access (HSPA) reached, gaining better capacity for data throughput, as compared to current 3G networks. With a peak data speed reaching up to 21.6 Mbps on the download and 5.76 Mbps on the uplink, and also having the capability to achieve up to 28.8 Mbps downlink speeds with future firmware updates, the MC998D architecture provides a significant performance enhancement over previous broadband technologies.
This piece of news can't be anything but good, noticing that wireless connectivity technologies are getting better and better, therefore wireless internet should start getting cheaper and more available.
