It's not very often that a company tries to break into a virtually-limited market such as that of
controllers for the latest gaming consoles, but that's exactly what Nyko did. Just recently, the company unveiled the Raven series of game controllers, putting an accent on the PS3 model and especially highlighting the finish of the controller.
Oddly enough, I can relate to the silky feel that Nyko mentions about the Raven, just by looking at the picture. That's probably because it resembles (visually, since I can't touch the Raven) the finish of some Nokia mobile phone models. Also, the games accessory manufacturer
underlines the controller's ergonomic shape, which is not surprising.
I mean, yes, the controller indeed looks ugly, but so do most of the truly-ergonomic shaped devices. Technically, the Raven features dual stick configurations and angle triggers to keep players' finger in a more natural position, which aids reduce strain in extended gaming sessions. I almost forgot to mention that Nyko also has an Xbox 360 layout model of the Raven.
Both models
connect to the consoles through a wireless USB dongle, that provides a wireless range of up to 7.6 meters. A built-in lithium-ion battery ensures excellent operation time of up to 25 hours, and is chargeable through the miniUSB port, from a computer or the Nyko Charge Base 2. When it arrives on the shelves, sometime this summer, the Raven will have a price tag of $35.
