I don't know what it is about the iPod that makes companies want to build a lot of extra gadgets for it, usually in the form of docks. Whether it's the fact it remains one of the most used multimedia playing devices or the fact that they really want to make a great device for the iPod, I don't know why such a big number of manufacturers build so many docks for the iPod.
Well, joining the group of iPod-related merchandise is the Octiv AIR, a speaker system from Altec Lansing that allows for great versatility of use and brings the Altec Lansing sound quality as an extra bonus. The wireless dock can deliver 80 watts of high-fidelity music while being able to also plug into your computer or laptop in order to turn it into a speaker. If you want more, you'll be happy to hear that you can add up to eight extra speakers to one single dock for increased experience.
The dock also keeps your iPod fully charged and is easy to control via the dock's remote. It has a nice wall mountable design, bass enhancement technology for all you bass aficionados out there (and I don't mean the fish) and has no wires, meaning that your wife probably won't kill you after she sees the type of gadget you have brought to liven up the place. Even if she sent you to buy food. But who needs food, right?
I have to admit I have always been a fan of Altec Lansing (most of the sound generating devices in my house come from this maker) and even though I'm not dying for the iPod or its ever growing pile of docking devices, I can't help but think that for once, this gadget could actually put the iPod to a good use, especially thanks to its wireless capabilities. Pricing is unknown but expect something above average.
