It really seems that the Internet tablet segment is growing very rapidly all around the world, with numerous companies launching such products, the latest to join the fray being Onkyo, who's released no less than three such product, all of which are, curiously, powered by Intel's Atom CPU and run the Windows 7 operating system.
We're saying “curiously” because the number of products that provide the features listed above is quite limited (most tablets out there run the Android OS and pack ARM-based CPUs), but it seems that Onkyo's decided to offer Japanese users a little extra computing power with the new "TW Series" that includes the TW317A5, TW217A5 and TW117A4 models.
The TW317A5
Internet tablet from Onkyo packs an 11.6-inch touchscreen display, accompanied by an Intel N450 CPU, 32GB SSD unit and 1GB of memory.
Unlike the other models from the TW Series, the TW317A5 also packs a HDMI output, allowing users to connect the tablet to a HDTV in order to enjoy multimedia playback on a much larger scale.
Next in line comes the TW217A5 model, that features a 10.1-inch display, while being powered by an Intel Atom Z530 CPU, 1GB of DDR2-533 RAM memory and a 32GB SSD unit.
Last, but certainly not least, comes the TW117A4 10.1 inch tablets, that's also built around an Intel N450 CPU and 1GB of DDR2 memory, but sports an 160GB HDD for storage.
Beside their particular
features, it's interesting to note that all of the Onkyo tablets support multitouch controls and pack an accelerometer, detecting position changes in a very fast and easy manner.
Other components these things have in common are the IEEE802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth Ver.2.1 + EDR modules, as well as USB 2.0 ports, for the fast and easy connectivity of various external accessories.
The three Onkyo tablets will apparently only be available in Japan starting in mid-October, but, unfortunately, no details regarding the pricing have been provided, and the same goes for whether they'll make it on other markets or not.
