In order to help their products stand a better chance against the competition, iPad accessories' manufacturers really have to come up with innovative solutions, and that's exactly what OtterBox seems to have managed, because their OtterBox Defender Series for Apple iPad not only incorporates three layers of hardcore protection, but also quite a few advanced features on the side.

So, according to OtterBox, this case provides added protection against bump, shock, drop and dust intrusion, but, unfortunately, it's not protective against water, so one will have to be a bit careful in this respect.

The protective case also sports a built-in stand, which should come in handy while trying to watch a movie or video, and creates a comfortable browsing experience.

Furthermore, when using the iPad on a flat surface, the silicone grip pads on the bottom will hold the device securely in place, while the case will also accommodate optional iPad dock accessories.

Naturally, the protective case is rather large and pretty heavy, measuring 9.99 in x 7.89 in x 0.94 in (253.75 mm x 200.53 mm x 23.98 mm) and weighing around 566 grams, with the shield on.

Unfortunately, the protective case for the iPad from OtterBox is not exactly what one might call affordable, since it retails for around 90 US dollars (nevertheless, a pretty attractive price point).
