For most true audiophiles, the quality of the sound a certain speaker system can generate is equally important to its looks, which should be as exquisite and elegant as the clarity and power of the Watts of sound the respective device can pump out. And for this reason, PIEGA has struggled to bring both great audio and looks to its latest masterpiece, the MasterONE loudspakers.
As the manufacturer informs us, the MasterONE has been designed together with the Hannes Wettstein studio and features a polished aluminum baffle cabinet, as well as a bass cabinet with an attractive ripple finish, designed to fit quite well within pretty much any home decor.
However, what's impressive about the MasterONE lies within the case of the speaker, since this device, despite being a dipole audio system, incorporates a coaxial ribbon system and the essential design elements of slim-line column loudspeakers. Unlike conventional large-size electrostatic panel loudspeakers, the coaxial ribbon system (within which the membrane of the tweeter is surrounded by the membrane of the midrange) operates solely as a single point sound source, which has the advantage that the loudspeaker supports a single acoustic center, and placing fewer requirements in terms of room conditions when it is positioned.
Furthermore, the specially designed bass cabinet offers a large net volume in relation to the small dimensions, while the specially tuned 22cm MOM bass chassis (Magnetic Optimized Motor) ensures a full-bodied low bass range. Plus, the speaker sports a sophisticated damping made from bituminized composite material, which prevents any kind of resonance.
Unfortunately, no pricing information regarding the new MasterONE audiophile-oriented speakers from PIEGA has been provided thus far, so it remains to be seen just how much serious audiophiles will have to cough up for this thing. However, given its features and the manufacturer's background, it's very likely that the price point will be a very high one.
