PLX Technology, one of the leaders in the not-so-public field of supplying silicon and software interconnect solutions for the enterprise and consumer markets, has just announced its unique USB Duet solution for mobile PCs that comes to enable plug-and-play connectivity with the Apple iPad tablet. A small preview of this is available in the video below, via Engadget.

"Leading OEMs in Japan already are delivering USB Duet-enabled netbooks and notebooks to customers and PLX is working closely with other global mobile computing designers today to utilize this powerful connectivity technology," said David Raun, vice president of marketing and business development at PLX. "Our vision is for USB Duet to become the gold standard mobile connectivity solution for the entire computing market."

The PLX USB Duet enables customers to immediately load content onto their iPad, and the highlight features take advantage of the mobile PC's large and hardware tactile keyboard for a better experience while typing. Furthermore, the PLX USB Duet even allows the iPad content to be played through the mobile computer's speakers, and as a jaw-dropping mention, you don't even have to install the iTunes software for that.

The Duet is an exclusive combination between PLX-engineered hardware and a software application that was developed directly into OEMs' new netbook and notebook computers allowing Windows-based machines to access media and functionality of the iPad, by simply plugging in a standard USB cable, therefore offering one of the most effortless connection means, without requiring setting up or installing special drivers.

USB Duet-enabled PCs can also share an optical disk drive, for example, enabling netbooks to load media, software or backing up directly, rather than waiting for cloud storage. Details on using the Duet with the iPad can be found below in the video, with the iPad connected to a Fujitsu netbook.
