The 3D HDTV frenzy is really starting to take off around the world, and we're getting to see more and more products of this type being pushed onto the market, coming from all of the big names in this particular industry segment. And the most recent product we've had the chance to briefly test for ourselves in real-life conditions is the Panasonic NeoPDP VT20 plasma HDTV, a 3D-capable device that, as far as we're concerned, is a pretty serious contender at the title of “Best 3D-capable Full HD TV solution” out there.

Similar to most other advanced 3D solutions out there, the NeoPDP VT20 series was initially unveiled back at CES 2010, but we've had the chance to enjoy a re-launch of sorts during a local Panasonic event. The model presented by the local Panasonic team was the 50-inch one, but that provides enough information about what we should really expect from this thing.

The VT20 series is described as being, first and foremost, the best 2D plasma display out there, besides being the best 3D one. And indeed, Panasonic packed everything but the kitchen sink in this thing, including moving picture resolution 1080 lines, 24p Smooth Film technology, Super Resolution and ISFccc.

Additional features provided by this amazing plasma display include a THX certification, VIERA CAST, DLNA, VIERA Image Viewer Photo and Video, VIERA Link, USB Terminals for Wireless LAN Adaptor, USB Keyboard and USB HDD Recording, VIERA Tools (a whole new user interface), Game Mode and PC Input.

Furthermore, the device features mercury and lead-free panels, while the estimated functioning life for the panel is set somewhere in the vicinity of 100,000 hours. Additionally, it comes with an included Wireless LAN Adaptor and V-Audio ProSurround.

The 3D setup is completed by the DMP-BDT300 3D-capable Blu-ray player, accompanied by shutter glasses (two included in the sales package, additional ones available separately).

Now that we're done talking about the tech specs, let's talk a bit about the experience itself. So, first of all, we'll have to admit that the quality of the images in both 2D and 3D are absolutely fantastic. I mean, the contrast, the colors, the level of image detail and the sharpness are amazing, and will certainly manage to rise up to the expectations.

As for the 3D experience... well, it's exactly what we'd imagined. Namely, one really feels like peeping out a window, the images succeeding in providing that sensation of “depth” that makes the whole 3D thing worth while.

Naturally, pricing might be a bit of an issue, since we're talking about around 3,300 US dollars for the 50-inch PDP model and an extra 825 US dollars for the Blu-ray player, which certain users might find to be a tad too expensive, but we consider to be quite fair, taking into account the impressive quality of the overall 3D experience this thing has to offer.

Given the overall Full HD 3D experience the Panasonic setup has to offer, we'd dare to say that we're talking about one of the most serious contenders on the market, especially for those very hard to please consumers who are always looking for top visual experiences in their home entertainment solutions.
