Panasonic has recently announced a mixed classroom audio-security device, namely the A+ Audio System, capable of delivering a one-button access for instant assistance, at the reach of the instructors, in case of security breach. Nevertheless, the system also betters day-to-day use, with the WX-LT350 infrared wireless microphone that allows instructors to be heard clearly, even by the students way back in the auditorium.

"The new security response capabilities of our A+ Audio System provide a real advantage, giving teachers, administrators and students added peace of mind at a time when school violence is on the rise and concerns about classroom safety are more urgent than ever," said Bill Taylor, President, Panasonic System Networks Company of America.

The alert button is actually embedded into the WX-LT350 microphone, which can be most easily worn as a pendant. Triggering the alert is done by pressing and holding the Function button that sends a silent notice, offering responders several choices, included with viewing and listening to the scenario in the classroom through network cameras and the microphone. Even more, the video captured inside the class can be watched on a web browser for the off-site officials.

Mr. Taylor adds, "These security features provide an additional benefit over and above the audio system's day-to-day function to transform the classroom learning experience. Sound enhancement technology in the classroom provides greater acoustic accessibility to every student, and now our audio system even makes students safer. In a school security emergency, faster awareness enables faster response."

I bet this could really make a difference in case an intruder enters the classroom, or in case of a medical emergency or severe student disturbance, since the professor only has to push the button on the pendant. Pricing has not been mentioned, but it's clear that whatever it might be, it's worth it.
