Along with the upcoming Valentine's Day, manufacturers probably feel they could get some more market. I don't know about others for the moment, but at least Pandigital took out a product targeted at this, in a new series of Digital Photo Greeting Cards, namely a greeting card that sports a built-in (or probably stitched) LCD that can showcase pictures.

“These new Digital Photo Greeting Cards extend the concept of the greeting card by allowing consumers to send a truly personal greeting to family and friends,” said Dean Finnegan, CEO and founder, Pandigital. “These cards are available for most special occasions and are so unique that the card can actually be the gift.”

It seems actually nice to easily and rapidly load up to 50 pictures on a 1.44-inch display and have the images automatically run in a slideshow because that makes sure that even non-technology savvy persons like older relatives will be able to see all the pictures. Seamless user experience is also ensured by the Digital Photo Greeting Card by shipping pre-loaded with very user-friendly and intuitive photo transfer software, both PC and Mac compliant, so that customers only have to use a common USB cable to connect the card's mini USB port to their personal computer.

After that, the operation gets even simpler, by a few easy steps to load the photos on the card. Mind that the card will only support JPEG, GIF and BMP file formats. As for the card's technical operation, it automatically turns on as the person that received it opens it and, of course, it will also turn off upon closing, but also automatically turn off after five minutes to preserve battery life, in the eventuality that the card is left open.

No wonders, since each card will have a total battery life of almost two hours and a half, and by the looks of it, the battery isn't user replaceable. Coming in various selections of styles and designs, the Digital Photo Greeting Cards has a price tag of only $9.99.
