Penguin United recently launched the Eagle-Eye Converter at the E3 show, catching many of the attendees' eyes, simply because playing first person shooters feels a lot better when using a keyboard and mouse. The Eagle-Eye
received a good feedback from gamers, as it translates a mouse and keyboard languages to the native one that the PlayStation 3 can understand it.
"We were so excited by the response the Eagle-Eye received from gamers, journalists and retailers at E3," stated Richard Huang, President of Penguin United. "The most consistent feedback we got from people was about the lack of lag time using the mouse. Everyone who tested it was amazed by how accurate and smooth the mouse works on games like Kill Zone 2 and Modern Warfare." Continued Huang: "As one gamer jokingly put it; 'the Eagle-Eye is
the best console controller since the PC was invented'."
I can relate myself to the part regarding the difficulty of playing first person shooters with gamepad-style typical controllers, since I'll have to admit that I could never play accurate enough. I mean, not even games that I was accustomed to, since PS1 and PS2 games can be run smoothly on PCs too.
Technically speaking, the Eagle-Eye converts any standard HID Keyboard and Mouse into a PS3 controller, with USB 2.0 inputs for both. Mouse sensitivity is converted one on one directly from the PS3 right analog stick,
ensuring much more accurate aiming in shooter games, be it FPS or TPS. Compatible with all the PS3 games, the Eagle-Eye converter has a price of $59.99.
