Besides being one of the world's best-known digital camera manufacturers, Pentax also offers users a very interesting line-up of various optical devices, especially binoculars and rifle scopes. And that's exactly the specific segment to which the company's latest announcement is related, since Pentax has just brought into the spotlight a whole new family of binoculars and rifle scopes that goes by the name of PENTAX DCF NV.

First of all, let's talk about the binoculars. The DCF NV line includes two models, namely 8x36 and 10x36 binoculars. Both versions feature the company's PentaBright technology and have high resolution, phase-coated and super-reflective coated roof prisms for high-contrast images, accompanied by multi-coated lenses to increase light transmission and color quality. Additionally, the binoculars have a very sturdy build, featuring a reinforced polycarbonate design, which also makes them quite lightweight.

Unfortunately, you won't find them in stores in time for Christmas, since they'll only arrive in February 2009 and will retail for around $219.00 for the 8x36 and US $229.00 for the 10x36.

As mentioned right from the start, the company has also introduced two new lines of rifle scopes, the Pioneer II and the Gameseeker 5X. Both series of scopes have been equipped with one inch, one piece tube construction, making them extremely durable and fully waterproof for the most extreme hunting situations.

Moreover, they also offer one-quarter M.O.A. finger adjustable turrets for fast sighting-in accuracy, and the quick focus style eyepiece quickly adjusts the focus to match the user’s eyes. Additionally, each of these scopes is filled with nitrogen in order to prevent internal fogging of optical elements, and the fully-multi-coated optics with PentaBright technology help increase light transmission to deliver sharp, clear images.

Of course, there are also certain differences between the two series. For example, the Pioneer II scopes are available in 3-9x40 and 4.5-14x42, while the Gameseeker 5X rifle scope offers 3-15X magnification and a large, 50mm objective to gather optimum light for a bright, clear image.

The new rifle scopes from Pentax have some fairly affordable price points, since the Pioneer II rifle scopes are slated to ship in February 2009 at US $199.00 for the 3-9x40 and US $219.00 for the 4.5-14x42 size, while the 3-15x50mm Gameseeker 5X Matte rifle scope will ship in February 2009 for US $239.00.
