Since the delivery of digital content has become a very important issue nowadays, with more and more consumers adopting this solution in order to enjoy their entertainment programs, there's also an increased need for hardware that will be able to provide streaming and encoding functions, at the same time managing to maintain the necessary bandwidth at fairly acceptable levels.
That's exactly what a company called ATC Labs promises to achieve with its Perceptual ACE-HD
server, described as an “ultra efficient, real time video encoding engine capable of delivering excellent HD quality video at impressively low data rates.”
According to ATC Labs, the Perceptual ACE-HD is built around a Dell
server platform, but features proprietary video and audio compression algorithms designed for uninterrupted real-time operations. On the video side, it supports the H.264 video codec, optimized with ATC Labs propriety Perceptual Video Model for higher compression efficiency. It accepts real time HD/SD input either on an SDI or HDMI hardware interface and can optionally process files stored onto disk servers.
Furthermore, the device connects to distribution servers or modem multiplexers, through a unicast/multicast IP network interface, being able to send compressed MPGE2 TS stream using UDP, TCP or RTP protocol. The compressed output may also be saved as MP4, TS, or AVI format for subsequent distribution to consumers in VOD applications.
"We are very excited about our new
product and looking forward with great anticipation at the opportunity to provide highest quality video encoding solution to professional TV broadcasters, Internet broadcasters, service providers, corporations, and individuals for delivering unparalleled quality video at the lowest possible cost to their customers," said Deepen Sinha, CEO and founder of ATC Labs. "Content owners and distributors can count on Perceptual ACE-HD to provide high reliability 24x7 operations that will meet the challenging requirements of a broadcast environment."
Sadly, ATC Labs doesn't provide any hints regarding the possible pricing of the Perceptual ACE-HD solution, but rather invites you to contact them directly, should you be interested in finding out more on this issue.
