Philips has quite a long and impressive tradition in manufacturing high-quality PC monitors, its products targeting just about every market niche, including that of gaming, that being the segment the subject of our article, the 226CL2 Full HD LED monitor, pertains to.

The device in question sports a decent diagonal size (21.5 inches – 54.6 cm), while supporting a 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz resolution (no 3D, sorry) and providing a very good response time, of just 2 ms.

The monitor packs a W-LED backlight solution and offers 250 cd/m2 brightness level, as well as a 20,000,000:1 SmartContrast, which plays a very important part in delivering good quality images via the SmartImage enhancement technology.

Moreover, the TFT-LCD's panel viewing angles are quite impressive, since we're talking about 176 degrees on the horizontal and 170 degrees on the vertical.

It's also interesting to note that users shouldn't have too much trouble moving this thing around, as it measures 515 x 399 x 198 mm and weighs around 3 kilos (the external power supply certainly playing an important part in achieving this slender profile).

The connectivity options are pretty classic though (just DVI and VGA), and the same goes for the position adjustment options, restricted to stand tilting (3/+12 degree).

Luckily, pricing for this gamer-friendly monitor is quite low, since we're talking about roughly 260 US dollars.
