As we've mentioned several times up until now, Philips has really come up with plenty of cool gadgets at IFA 2010, one of the most interesting being the latest addition to the company's GoGear line of portable multimedia players, namely the Connect model, which is Philips' first Wi-Fi enabled MP4 player to run on the Android platform.
The new 3.2-inch player with a touch-screen display comes pre-installed with Google Mobile applications and thousands more can be downloaded from
Android Market.
Also, at just 128 grams, the device is ultra light and measures 113x12.6x59 mm, which makes it quite easy to carry around.
Moreover, the combination of
Philips’ patented FullSound technology and sound isolation earphones that block out background noise provides a clear and detailed music experience even in noisy surroundings, while the Surround for Movies will let users experience cinematic movie sounds while they're are on the go.
The Philips GoGear Connect also lets users browse the internet or check their location using its Google Maps for mobile and GPS capabilities.
Using Bluetooth, the player allows one to stream audio or share files, while the player's built-in camera can easily shoot videos and pictures.
The player provides 16GB of built-in storage, but a MicroSD card slot gives the user expandable memory to scale up the amount of music, movies, and apps they might want on the player.
The recommended retail price of the Philips GoGear Connect is EUR 249, the device being slated to become available in Western Europe and USA from the end of September 2010.
