From the series of strange happenings regarding all sorts of gadgets, here comes another one. We'll take it slowly, so there is no confusion. It seems that a businessman by the name of Andrew Cheatle was hanging out on a boat when he dropped his phone (a Nokia 1600 handset) in the water. What's difficult to believe here is that a businessman would still be using that cellphone model. Anyways, that's not the real story here.

So, the owner of the phone made peace with the thought that the phone would be lost for good, until, one week later, his girlfriend received a call from that number. To everybody's surprise, the cellphone was found by a fisherman, in the belly of a 25-pound cod. But not even this is the best part of the story. Here it comes: after drying and cleaning it up, the handset still works just fine, as if it had never gone through this bizarre event.

That's a dubious claim at best, but hey, if true, that says a lot about Nokia phones. I guess. I mean, if you're planning on having your phone eaten by a fish, that may be the brand to go with; otherwise, it probably won't change your opinion one way or another. Nokia must have paid that fish a lot of money for such advertising! Just kidding, though that would have been quite a PR stunt if intentional.

Now, this is an amazing story! What's not so amazing is the owner of the phone, who appears to be still using the device, as stinky as it is, “It was working but it kept playing up so I had to get the circuit board changed in the end. But now it’s fine. I know it sounds a fishy tale but it is 100 per cent true.” Now, this is where the effects of the crisis really make themselves noticed.
