This is something somewhat new for Pioneer. I really wasn't expecting to cheap out and release soudbars for iPods and iPhones.

I really hope those are only a little help to get out of the crisis and Pioneer won't make it a habit out of releasing this kind of stuff. I should, I must actually, tell you the name of two new devices, called iPhone certified tabletop sound system. I wonder, will they all sell their soul to Apple?

The iPhone sound systems, namely the XW-NAS3 and XW-NAS5 have been developed and calibrated to provide the optimum sound quality. The engineers at Pioneer spent expensive time tuning the systems to meet the North American demand for high fidelity with rich bass, wide frequency response and dynamic musical sound-field, also known as sound stage.

The new speaker systems for iPhone feature 2.1-channels with two wide-range drivers powered by a digital amplifier and supplemented by a woofer driver for faithful reproduction of bass and lower frequencies.

Both sound systems are Bluetooth-ready for wireless control and stereo streaming from the new iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and other Bluetooth-enabled models via an optional accessory, while for other connectivity options, they sport component and composite video output for playback of stored movies, TV shows and other video files from the docked digital device.

Not only did Pioneer sell its soul with iPhone dock speakers, but also got "inspired" by ZVOX and came up with a soundbar, namely the HTP-SB300, that features a powerful 3.1 channel system, outputting a total of 250 watts.

Dual center channel speakers, a wireless subwoofer and dual HDMI inputs make the soundbar the most versatile. Designed with aesthetics and sound quality in mind, Pioneer forged a sound system that can produce robust virtual surround sound in an elegant two-piece, wireless set.

Prices for the above are going to be announced as the availability date nears - winter 2009.
