In order to stay connected to all your multimedia content or for some easier work done with the help of multiple monitors, you will always need
special adapters like the ones
presented here. There a few good ones out there, but the solutions from Plugable come with the added advantage of having a more affordable price. And this company is also offering a USB docking station, which you can use to connect up to four gadgets to a computer or laptop at the same time, but also allows for other multimedia connections.
Bernie Thompson, Plugable Technologies Founder, said, "The productivity benefits - and 'cool factor' - of multiple monitors is well known. And USB connectivity is the easiest plug and play solution to get there. The UGA-125 family enables new price points to deliver these benefits to a wider audience."
The UGA-125 display adapters use the DL-125 chip from DisplayLink, hence the numbered name calling and there are two models being released by Plugable now, the UGA-125 and the UGA-125 HUB. The second comes with a four-port USB adapter less capable but $10 more affordable. Plugable sells them through Amazon with the $49.99 and $59.99 price tags.
"Plugable's UGA-125 family of
products highlight the flexibility of DisplayLink's USB-virtual graphics technology," said Dennis Crespo, senior vice president of marketing and business development for DisplayLink. "Peripherals can be mixed and matched to improve the computing experience - from using multiple monitors for desktop productivity to creating an entertainment media center or for organizing the mobile professional’s workspace, it’s as easy as a USB connection.”
Last but not least, among the products announced by Plugable today, there is the more complete solution called the UD-160-A. This $96.99 gadget offers a multitude of connections, besides the four ports that you can use to connect USB 2.0-enabled devices to a computer or laptop. It also has Ethernet ports, audio and DisplayLink's DVI/VGA connections.
